Welcome to Your Friendly Neighbourhood Visual Arts Centre!

 Come create with us! Who are we? We are your friendly neighbourhood Visual Arts Centre! With a working pottery studio downstairs and a painting & glass fusion studio/gallery upstairs, we are the building that is much bigger on the inside! You can find us at 4613-53 Street on the Recreation Grounds right next door to the swimming pool (south) overlooking the beautiful golf course!

We make art fun! Established in 1977, we are a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing creative opportunities to you and the Lakeland region. We offer a variety of classes for all ages and abilities, as well as exhibits and sales throughout the year. *Classes are are posted to our Facebook page first.

YOUTH CLASSES
We offer a variety of classes for youth year round!

Youth Art Camps & Classes – Explore paint, charcoal, oil pastel, mixed media, sculpture, clay, collage and more!

During the school year, youth classes are typically scheduled on weekends, holidays or PD days and are posted monthly.

ADULT CLASSES
Adult classes are offered in the Fall, Winter & Spring and new instructors and courses are added yearly as we continue to bring you new and exciting creative opportunities!

Pottery:  For adults, we offer Beginner & Intermediate Pottery on the wheel as well as, Throwing Boot Camps, Decorative Glazing, Hand-building with Clay and more!

Glass Fusion  Glass fusion classes are offered throughout the year and combines beautiful coloured glass with the fiery heat of the kiln to create unique works of art in glass.

Painting  Acrylic and Watercolour classes are offered throughout the year. Classes are suitable for beginners to intermediate, no experience needed, we walk you through it!

Encaustic Art  The ancient art of painting with hot beeswax! Encaustic techniques are almost limitless – compatible with different media such as pigment, paper, photos, transfers, able to be carved and glazed and textured, it lends itself to one’s imagination.

BATIK Explore designing on fabric during our fall batik workshops!

Private Functions -Book a private painting party with your friends, a staff social, bridal party, fundraiser etc. Minimum of 2 MONTH NOTICE required – Booking is dependent on instructor availability*

EXHIBITS & SALES

SPVAC Gallery – Our gallery offers a variety of handmade pottery, sculpture, paintings, glass fusion, crafts and hand made cards for sale year round.

April – Spring has sprung! This  pottery & art show & sale is great timing to find something special for Mother or Father’s Day.

August/September – Be sure to check out our Annual Rodeo Week Show & Sale at the Centre and celebrate the end of summer with some beautiful art, pottery and more!

November – We bring you The BIG Pottery & Art Exhibit & Sale! This event happens at the end of November and all pieces are created by our local Visual Arts Members.

December – Annual Community Christmas Art & Craft Sale at the St. Paul Recreation Centre (main hall). This handmade only sale is always the first Saturday in December from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm. Talented crafters, artists & artisans come from all over to bring you their unique items. This is a FREE family friendly with a concession for lunch or a treat. Food Bank donations are greatly appreciated at the door. The St. Paul Visual Arts Centre volunteers have been hosting this sale since the 1980’s! Individual & Group Exhibits
Are you or someone you know interested in having your own exhibit at the Centre? We provide exhibiting opportunities for artists, photographers, sculptors etc. to showcase and sell their work in a scenic gallery setting.

S.P.V.A.C. MEMBERSHIP
Purchase a general membership and become part of a fun and flourishing art community. Showcase and sell your works in the gallery! Come create with other members in the studios on Members’ Nights.
